Festive fundraising at Artrix with The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Bromsgrove’s Artrix arts centre have been accepted as a charity to take part in 2017’s The Big Give Christmas Challenge, which will take place throughout the week of 28th November to 5th December.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a Match Funding scheme, so in order for Artrix to receive the potential donation of £4,253, which has been pledged by Biz Smart, North Worcestershire Business Leaders, Open Door Counselling Services and our Big Give Champion, The Reed Foundation, the organisation must secure a further £4,253 of online donations throughout the official Big Give week.

Achieving this target will help Artrix to directly engage young people, schools and community groups with the theme of youth mental health. This significant amount of money will be used to deliver a two-year programme of work by and for young people, including workshops, and a Mental Health Youth Arts Festival programmed for Spring 2018. It will allow Artrix’s resident company of emerging artists, Outspoken, to further develop their recent production entitled Hyped which helps inform and support young people.

Director of Artrix, Hannah Phillips said, “This country is in the midst of a mental health crisis, with suicide the most common cause of death for boys aged between 5-19 years, and the second most common for girls of this age. With the help of The Big Give Christmas Challenge, new plays like Hyped are being produced by Artrix and made specifically with these young people in mind and can make a real difference by highlighting mental health issues and helping local youngsters.”

In order for the donations received during The Big Give Challenge to count towards to Match Funding total, they must be donated via The Big Give website, not the Artrix website, or front of house donation boxes that Artrix customers may be familiar with.

Christmas shoppers in Bromsgrove Town Centre on Saturday 2nd December can find out more about The Big Give and take part in Artrix’s Christmas Elf Event from 11am to 1pm – a perfect opportunity to donate and to get into the Christmas spirit.

Ruth Richardson, Development Consultant at Artrix said; “The Big Give Christmas Challenge is certainly a big challenge! But we are hopeful that friends and supporters of Artrix will work with us and give generously to secure £4253 to support Artrix’s work with and for young people”

There will be Artrix staff on hand during The Big Give week to assist visitors who may wish to donate securely via The Big Give website on the tablet computers in the foyer. Online donations begin at 12 noon on Tuesday 28th November.

Anyone who wishes to help support Artrix in reaching this target by donating online or by visiting Artrix and donating is encouraged to visit.
