Hollywood legend to perform in Coventry

John Carpenter set for Warwick Arts Centre gig.

Legendary cult Hollywood movie-maker and composer John Carpenter brings his live band to Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry, on Thursday 27 October 2017.

Establishing his name in the 1970s and 1980s with such seminal films as Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York and slasher flick Halloween, writer, director and composer Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre’s most striking soundtrack work.

His chilling, pulsating, minimalist synth scores instantly flood a fans’ memory with images of a menacing figure stalking a babysitter, a relentless wall of ghost-filled fog, lightning-fisted kung fu fighters, or a mirror holding the gateway to hell.

While the soundtrack albums have remained popular with fans, Carpenter entered a new chapter of his long and accomplished career in 2014 with the release of Lost Themes, his first album of non-soundtrack material.

In the wake of the recently released sequel, Lost Themes II, he now embarks on his first UK tour, Live Retrospective.

Combining music from across his career with clips from his famous films, the Horror Master is joined onstage by his son Cody Carpenter on synthesizer and his godson Daniel Davies on guitar (both of whom assisted with Lost Themes and are themselves film and TV composers of note), plus John Spiker on bass, John Konesky on guitar, and Scott Seiver on drums.
