Jingle Bell Jog numbers double previous best.
More than 400 festive fun runners took part in Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice Jingle Bell Jog last Sunday – twice as many as in last year’s event.
Early estimates suggest that the hospice is well on its way to hitting its target of £10,000, and this is vital financial support for the hospice when caring for its terminally ill patients throughout the festive period. The fun run kicked of a packed programme in the run up to Christmas as part of their ‘Care at Christmas’ campaign.
Hamish Shilliday, Head of Fundraising at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “It was a joy to see so many people turn out in force to support the hospice at this year’s Jingle Bell Jog. Kings Heath Park was a picture of red and the rainy weather didn’t dampen any festive spirits. We would like to thank all those that took part, volunteered and sponsored the event. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Zack Jones, aged 13 from Edgbaston, was crowned the winner after completing the 2 km run in just seven minutes. All ages, abilities and even dogs warmed up with support from EasyGym Kings Heath before setting off on the jog. The Theatre Workshop performed songs from their charity EP in aid of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, which attracted celebrity supporter Jamelia who is an ambassador for the stage school.
It’s not too late to support the hospice with its Care at Christmas campaign, donate and share a #careatchristmas selfie or book to get your Christmas tree collected with Treecycling.
