Coming up at our favourite Bilston venue.
On Thursday 9th October, neo-classical Wirral modern day troubadours Half Man Half Biscuit return to the Robin.
Famed for making ill-tempered music with a social conscience, the band who formed more than thirty years ago “as a way of getting through the day” are still coming up with wry observations about the absurdities and minutiae of life. They’ve a new album due soon, so expect something from that as well as a run-through of a back catalogue that encapsulates decades of social history from mass unemployment to celebrity culture.
Tickets £18
That’s followed by two examples of classic British pop from different eras. The South, who play on Saturday 11th October, were formed from members of the highly-acclaimed and massively successful Beautiful South. Featuring original singers Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler as well as members of their touring band, the South perform the songs that made the original band so popular as well as their own materual.

Then on Tuesday 14th October, the Robin plays host to another regular, the legendary Steve Harley. More than just a glam rocker from the seventies, Harley has written some of the finest songs ever penned, and if talent counted more than fashion he would still be topping the charts. This show will be a solo acoustic, with the intimacy that such surroundings can bring.
