Organisers of Birmingham’s BE FESTIVAL are asking Brummies to extend a warm welcome to European artists this summer.
BE FESTIVAL is a fortnight-long feast of culture featuring over 20 electrifying performances from eleven European countries, plus live music, exhibitions, workshops, discussions and delicious food.
Over 70 artists from 11 different countries will descend on Birmingham for the festival from 2nd–12th July and organisers are looking for generous local residents with a spare room to provide the visiting artists with somewhere to stay. Performers won’t need feeding or looking after, just a bed and a warm welcome. In return for their generosity and support, hosts will get a free festival ticket and dinner pass for the night their guest is performing.
BE FESTIVAL, which takes place at Birmingham Repertory Theatre this year, is now in its fifth year and recently ranked number 11 in The Sunday Times Top 50 Festivals. The success of the festival has always in part been due to the kind Birmingham residents who open their homes to visiting artists. Anyone who is able to help out or would like more information about hosting festival artists should contact Helena Scott-Hardy on [email protected] or 07809 885 235.
