Birmingham businesswoman honoured with visiting fellowship

The Managing Director of popular event and conferencing space thestudio has been awarded a visiting fellowship at the respected Aston Business School.

Emma Jennings, who jointly acquired and rebranded the former Orange Studio on Cannon Street in 2006, was one of 13 to receive the honour following completion of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme last year.

Awarded the title at a lunch event attended by Professor Mark Hart, Professor of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean at Aston Business School, the delegates will hold the position for two years.

Professor George Feiger said: “I am delighted that 13 of the 10,000 Small Businesses programme alumni have been awarded Visiting Industrial Fellowships. We value the contribution these high growth, entrepreneurial business leaders are making to the work of Aston Business School and the key role they play in fostering relationships between the small business community and Aston University”.

This is the first time that alumni of the 10,000 Small Businesses programme have been invited to become visiting fellows. They will be instrumental in engaging with the university and its students, participating in programmes such as BSEEN and acting as live case studies in taught modules.

Emma said: “I’m thrilled to have been awarded the title of visiting fellow. The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Programme was extremely beneficial both for thestudio and for my personal development so I’m happy to engage with Aston Business School and help its students in any way possible.”
