Longford Park Primary School and Coventry University Students’ Union volunteers are working together to deliver an exciting Arts Week for children between 24th-28th June.
Revolving around the theme of ‘Arts through the Ages’, Coventry student volunteers are running sessions with different school years on topics ranging from scrapbooking, to graffiti, to totem pole making to introduce them to alternative art forms. Longford staff have also set up visits to the Herbert Art Gallery and art projects such as Aboriginal dot painting and wire sculpture making for pupils to experiment with different art materials, which will also be supported by Coventry students.
Laura Evans, Schools Volunteer Co-ordinator for CUSU, said: “This is another new and exciting project that Longford Park and the Volunteering & Employability department at Coventry University Students’ Union have worked on collaboratively, and signifies the burgeoning partnership between Coventry student volunteers and the local community that is making a positive impact on local youngsters’ education.”
