Birmingham City Mission is calling for participants for the 2013 Sponsored Sleepout to be held on Friday 15th February – a sponsored night spent in a cardboard box to raise funds for BCM’s work with homeless people and increase awareness of what it’s really like to sleep rough.
BCM Chief Executive Wesley Erpen says: “For the past three years Birmingham City Mission’s ‘Big Sleep Out’ has attracted almost 100 participants each time. It has been exciting to see young and old with a concern for our city’s homeless and willing to crawl (somewhat anxiously) into a small cardboard box! The Sleep Out has raised over £12,000 each year, which has helped us provide our vital services to the homeless. We warmly invite groups from youth clubs, churches, local businesses or sports teams to rise to the challenge and get involved!”
The fundraising event, taking place in the gated car park of BCM headquarters from 8pm to 6am, includes a presentation on the work of BCM, hot drinks and soup until midnight, and breakfast from 5am – 6am.
