Donkey Christmas Fair in Sutton Park

Sutton Park’s Donkey Assisted Therapy centre is inviting local people to its Christmas Fair on Saturday 8th December from 10.30am to 3pm.

Christmas DonkeyThe centre is renowned for its magnificent Santa’s Grotto and for just £3.50, children will be able to meet the donkeys, visit Father Christmas and receive a gift.

Throughout the day there will be a wide range of indoor Christmas craft stalls, great for picking up those perfect gifts, whilst local choirs will boost the carol singing and a troop of flamenco dancers will add some continental warmth to the festivities. Other activities available at the fair will include a raffle and the opportunity for visitors to have their photo taken with the centre’s popular adoption donkeys.

Centre manager Sue Brennan said: “Our fair is a really special way for us to celebrate Christmas and, with such a wide range of activities on offer throughout the day, there’s sure to be something for all the family to enjoy.  It’s one of the centre’s biggest fundraising events of the year and we love seeing the children getting so much pleasure visiting Father Christmas in his grotto, whilst the adults catch up over a coffee and warm mince pie.”

Admission and parking at the Christmas Fair are free and visitors will be able to enjoy festive refreshments and Christmas carols. The centre can be accessed via the Town Gate entrance of Sutton Park.

The Donkey Sanctuary has been providing therapeutic donkey riding sessions to children from all over Birmingham since 1994. Around 180 local children with additional needs and disabilities visit the centre each week for therapy sessions. The charity also provides outreach visits with donkeys to residents of nursing homes, hospices and care homes.
