One of the regular Birmingham Press features is our plugging of local gigs. We like to help anyone who’s adding to the area’s roster of live music.
This one, though, is a bit different, and to my mind extremely important. Because I’m promoting it. After complaining often enough and listening to complaints that there’s not enough decent venues around I’m doing my bit to add to the city’s nightlife by putting on a gig this Friday (20th May) at the Red Lion, Warstone Lane, in the Jewellery Quarter. The band is Stained Glass Alice, they’re a ska band who I’ve heard play a few times and they’re good. Not only that but the pub’s a bit special as well.
It’s £5 to get in, the doors open at eight and the music should start around nine-ish. If we get a good response it’ll become a regular night (Birmingham Press Live?) and there’ll be somewhere else to go out at the weekend.
