This May mac birmingham and Moseley Folk are joining forces to present a contemporary re-imagining of May Day with a host of fantastic free events.
For anyone looking to avoid the usual bank holiday traffic gridlock May Day Re-imagined will give visitors the chance to welcome in the Summer with a fun packed day of music and dance.
New and old will combine at this unique event as age old traditions are celebrated with a contemporary edge. May Day Re-imagined will feature live music from The Burdock Band and Birmingham based folk collective The Bonfire Radicals. There will also be a chance for audiences to show their stuff on the dance floor as Morris Dancing and Ceilidhs take place throughout the day.
The day will also mark one year since mac birmingham re-opened after a 15 million pound building project. In just 10 months the arts centre has achieved visitor figures exceeding 720,000 (up 60% on pre-closure figures). That figure includes over 90,000 participations in arts learning activities. May Day Re-imagined will be a fitting testament to the arts centre’s continued commitment to producing innovative and accessible cultural events.
