Even the world’s greatest detectives need help sometimes.
Budding amateur sleuths and private detectives can help Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson solve a mysterious crime which has taken place at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire’s Ironbridge Gorge, over the weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August. The special Detectives Weekend event is part of Blists Hill’s 40thanniversary celebrations.
Come along and test your forensic science skills by taking fingerprints and print reward posters for display around the Town. You can also follow a trail of clues and put your powers of deduction to the test helping the eccentric detective and his side-kick solve the curious case of treasure stolen from the Earl of Craven’s mansion.
The intrepid duo and their housekeeper Mrs Hudson, from 221b Baker Street in London’s West End, will travel around Blists Hill in a Hansom Cab drawn by a pair of black Friesian horses. Meet them outside the Print Shop at 12noon and 2pm to hear more about the mystery and maybe offer some crimebusting suggestions of your own.
Open 10am until 5pm, Blists Hill is one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums. A great value Annual Passport Ticket allowing daytime entry into all the museums, valid for twelve months and unlimited return visits, costs £24 per adult, £19 for the 60 plus, £15.25 for students and children and £65 for a family of two adults and all their children aged up to 18 years in full time education (terms and conditions apply); under 5s free. Activities and workshops vary day-to-day and some carry an extra charge in addition to the admission fee. Individual museum entry tickets are also available.
