Blues play out a nil-nil draw with Swansea City that impresses Andy Munro.
After two performances that had quite frankly been excruciating to watch, Blues turned in a Rolls Royce of a performance that just lacked the goals needed to win in a canter.
A number of changes were forced onto the Blues team due to injury and also a couple that weren’t but it all worked out for the best. The mobility of Scott Hogan and Tabeth Chong never gave the Swansea back line a moment’s rest and behind them Juninho Bacuna was back to his mercurial best. However, yet again Onel Hernandez put in an outstanding performance when he was so unplayable his marker was pulled off and replaced at half-time. Let’s hope a permanent deal can be done at the end of the season
Obviously, it was good not to concede and part of that kudos should go to Marc Roberts, Nico Gordon and the returning Maxine Colin, who looked solid throughout as did Neal Etheridge behind them. However, on a more sombre note I think that we still need to bag another three points, as soon as possible, to completely relax and enjoy a stress-free remainder of the season (if that’s ever possible for a Blues fan) with hopefully some cameos from youngsters such as Jobe Bellingham.
Finally, from my perspective, I feel that Lee Bowyer should be given at least a one year extension as soon as possible because he’s done a reasonable job under extremely difficult conditions and, perhaps just as importantly, has a real affinity for the club.
