Look after your mental and physical health with Black Country Active Advent.
Active Black Country are encouraging people across the Black Country to keep active through December, encouraging people to continue to look after their mental and physical health either outside in a safe, social distant, way or within the home.
The Active Black Country team have compiled this year’s #ActiveAdventABC calendar with mental and physical wellbeing in mind.
Over 24 days expect activities from walking to yoga, Bollywood dancing to relaxation techniques, something to inspire everyone whatever their ability and all focused on encouraging people to participate in regular activity through the winter months.
Ian Carey, Director of Active Black Country said: “As we approach Christmas and the days become shorter, coupled with the on-going COVID restrictions to our daily lives, here in the Black Country we want to make it as easy as possible for people to keep active.
“From taking a walk with the Love Exploring app or trying out some exercises in your chair there is something for all fitness levels, and for relaxation how about Cosmic Kids Yoga or some mood boosting mindfulness. You’ve just got to be willing to give it a go!”
This years Active Advent builds on the increased levels of activity across the Black Country amongst all residents, recognising the importance of keeping healthy – physically and mentally – during the on-going pandemic and in response to more traditional sports activities being on hold.
Research undertaken by Active Black Country during the first Lockdown found 53.5% of respondents who had previously self-described as Inactive actually increased their levels to Fairly Active during the lockdown and it is this increase that campaigns such as #ActiveAdventBC aim to maintain.
