There’s a celebration of nostalgia taking place in Bromsgrove.
On Saturday 10th August, the Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove is going back in time for a one day Vintage Festival showcasing all things nostalgic.
The rock’n’roll fun begins with a screening of everyone’s favourite 50s-style musical, Grease, at 11am. This is no ordinary screening of Grease as you’ll get the chance to release your inner Pink Lady or T Bird with a special singalong version. High school romance, summer nights and leather jackets galore – tickets for Sing-a-long Grease are just £5 per person.
There’s a whole host of activities throughout the day at the Artrix Vintage Festival. From 1pm there will be a Vintage Market Place in the foyer (free entry) where you’ll find a treasure trove of stalls from the cutesy kitsch to the truly vintage.
Throughout the afternoon there will be gourmet burgers, tasty hot dogs and fresh buttery popcorn on offer from The Little Retro Kitchen. Hailing from Kidderminster, their locally sourced and delicious food is all served from The Little Retro Kitchen 1950s American style trailer.
At 3pm visitors can learn a variety of dance from the golden age of jazz, swing and lindy hop with the tutors from All About Swing. Places are £5 per person for a 45 minute class in the studio. No experience or dance partner is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm and energy!
The vintage vibe continues well into the evening with live music from The Strays, The Fireballs and The Delray Rockets
The Strays are a band that push rock ‘n’ roll to its limit, fusing a multitude of genres to create a unique modern sound with a gritty, vintage edge. Described as No Doubt meets Imelda May, The Strays performance style is larger than life, interactive, and deliciously unpredictable!
Next up, family band, The Fireballs play late 1950’s/early 60’s Rock’n’Roll including hits from Cliff Richard and The Shadows, Billy Fury, Buddy Holly and many more.
And finally, The Delray Rockets. Described as fuel-injected rockabilly their gig is set to be a high energy affair, playing some old chesnuts, revamped timely covers and some originals too.
Boogie on down to an evening of amazing live music, and take your new found dance moves to the floor, as the Main Auditorium will be set up with a flat floor so you can dance the night away! Doors open at 6pm and tickets are £15 per person to see all three fantastic acts.
