Charities to benefit from gala dinner.
Wolves fans are being encouraged to relive one of the best days in the club’s modern-day history and raise money for Cure Leukaemia and the National Autistic Society in the process.
The Millennium Stadium Memories event, which is being sponsored by In-Comm Training, will celebrate the famous 3-0 play-off final victory against Sheffield United by holding a special dinner – exactly 15 years to the day.
Manager Dave Jones, defensive stalwart Paul Butler and Man of the Match Matt Murray will join over 200 people at Molinuex on May 26th to relive some of the season’s most poignant memories, before they will be taken through the momentous day in Cardiff that saw Wolverhampton Wanderers return to the top flight for the first time since 1984.
Guests can have the chance to ask the three VIPs questions about the play-off final and what went on behind the scenes, while there will be a rare opportunity to have photos with the trophy.
Liam Price, Organiser, provided an insight: “Cardiff will live long in the memory for many fans, a culmination of 19 years of frustration and near misses all being released in one fantastic 90-odd minutes.
“We wanted to mark what was a major game in our history and we were delighted when Wolves said we could have a room at Molineux 15 years on from the exact date. It was then a case of inviting some of the main people behind the victory and we couldn’t believe it when Dave Jones, Paul Butler and penalty-saving Matt Murray agreed to join us on the evening.”
He continued: “The bigger picture is raising lots of money for two fantastic charities…Cure Leukaemia and the National Autistic Society. We’ve got a charity raffle and a superb silent auction arranged for the evening and we are hoping to raise close to £5,000.”
Packages for Millennium Stadium Memories start at £1,000 for a Gold Table (VIP meet and greet, photo with trophy and players), £750 for Silver and the option for individuals or groups of two or three to attend through the Bronze option. All include a three-course meal.
