On 29th July, from 7pm, as part of the Jewellery Quarter Festival, the Coffin Works will throw open its courtyard to ticket holders. Lorraine Kenny, Learning Manager for the Coffin Works, said: “We’re so pleased to be welcoming these amazing artists to the Coffin Works for our annual folk evening! Birmingham has such a lively and exciting music scene; it’s a great thing for us to form even a tiny part of it. And it will be a pleasure to hear the performers in our wonderful courtyard setting.”

Birmingham-based Ashland, formed in 2015, are made up of Kathryn Marsh (vocals) and David Sutherland (guitar/vocals) and have supported the highly-acclaimed Ange Hardy and folk legend Steve Tilston since then.

Mike Weaver is a singer/songwriter who writes and performs his own music, organises folk music events and runs the highly successful Armandaleg music website, promoting folk gigs throughout the Midlands and South West. He has worked with Ange Hardy and supported Irish folk legends Tir na nOg and Steve Ashley, among others.

Town Musicians of Bremen are a newly formed folk trio featuring Midlands musicians Andrew Lowings (bouzouki and vocals) Leon Gormley (guitar, cittern and vocals) and Lewis Jones (melodeon, nickelharpa and vocals)

Closing the set will be Chris Tye, a singer-songwriter who makes beautiful harmonic pop music with roots in a folk and jazz tradition, Chris will be joined at Coffin Folk by Jayne Powell on backing vocals. Birmingham-based Chris is a sublime guitar player with a complex sense of rhythm, and a talented and ambitious composer and arranger of his music.
