The Wildlife Trust’s Black Country Living Landscape Community Involvement Programme invites Black Country residents to ‘Go Wild’ this summer. Free to attend, there will be fun for all the family at four Wildlife Roadshows around the region and you will also have the chance to take part in an important Black Country- wide wildlife survey.
Black Country Living Landscape Community Involvement Programme has been awarded over £440,000 by Natural England as part of its Access to Nature Programme, funded by £25 million from the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces Programme.
The four main events begin this weekend on the 7th of August at Northycote Farm in Wolverhampton; come along to take part in wildlife walks, talks and surveys along with woodland craft demonstrations, puppet shows, face painting and stalls from local environmental groups. You will also have a chance to meet ‘Urbie’ the badger. The wildlife road show tour of the area continues on Wednesday 10th August at Moorcroft Wood Local Nature Reserve in Moxley, Sunday 14th of August at Sandwell Park Farm and Tuesday 16th of August at Bumblehole Local Nature Reserve. Each event runs from 10am till 4pm and with each event having its own variety of activities come and join us for a summer wildlife bonanza!
Julia Morris Black Country Living Landscape Community Involvement Programme Team Leader said: “The wildlife road shows are a chance to discover and find out about your local wildlife, there will be lots of fun and exciting activities; a young nature detectives dream with experts on hand to answer questions along with bug hunts, pond dipping, wild flower walks amongst other activities to encourage everyone to appreciate the amazing wildlife we have right here in the Black Country”.
Along with the free wildlife road shows everyone can get involved with the Black Country Wildlife Survey. From Monday the 8th August, the survey forms will be available on the Black Country Living Landscape website www.bcll.org.uk just follow the link for the road show survey page.
