On Tuesday the highly-acclaimed Ron Sexsmith is at the Robin. A singer-songwriter from Canada, Sexsmith’s admirers include Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. On Thursday blues rock guitar Larry Winter is on stage. Heavily influenced by Rory Gallagher and having toured with Walter Trout and Johnny Winter amongst others, Larry’s live work is highly-regarded by critics. Tickets £10.
On Friday there’s a showcase of local talent featuring No American and the Nicks, plus others to be announced. Tickets £5.
Saturday will be an interesting night, with the return after many years of Weapon of Peace. This Wolverhampton-based reggae band spent much of the early eighties narrowly avoiding stardom, being signed by Graduate Records at the same time as UB40 and playing with just about every new band of the time, from Stiff Little Fingers to Duran Duran. Tickets £8.
There will be the usual free acoustic sets in Woody’s bar on Sunday lunchtime.
