Wolves should definitely be in the promotion mix at the end of the season given their team and their parachute payments-boosted budge. So it was the last thing Bluenoses wanted to see when an horrific mistake from an otherwise excellent Alex Cochrane let in the opposition. Luckily this was then cancelled out by a wonderful strike by Jay Stansfield, a goal that will do him no end of good.
Wolves took the lead again following a rare moment of slackness by Christoph Klarer but both sides went into half-time on level pegging following an own goal from a panicking visiting defender under pressure.
The second half saw the Blues gain real ascendancy and if there had been any justice they would have bagged all three points. Throughout the game newbie loanee Liam Miller was an absolute handful for the Wolves hard-pressed defence and went off to a deserved ovation. His replacement, Dimmy Gray, also proved a problem for the Wolves defence until he was struck down by another injury hoodoo. Incidentally Patrick Roberts should be one of the first names on the team sheet after another stellar performance
On a couple of occasions, the woodwork came to Wolves’ rescue and August Priske also never gave their central defenders a moment’s rest. Blues undoubtedly missed Jhon Solis but after a rocky first half hour, Paik Seung-ho and Tomoki Iwata got their act together. Even Blues’ Argentinian signing Carlos Vasquez showed his first promising cameo when he came on in the dying minutes.
It was a decent point that showed Blues can easily mix it with the big guns even though, in truth, they deserved all three.
