Blues come up short – again

Andy Munro sees Blues beaten at Ipswich.

I’ve always quite liked Ipswich, despite the fact that they once tried to pinch our anthem Keep Right On. However, whilst I wish them all the best in their promotion drive that doesn’t stop me bemoaning yet another loss on the road.

Admittedly, it was only a single-goal defeat and stats on possession and shots weren’t much different between ourselves and Ipswich but our concerning barren run continues.
Nobody was awful but unfortunately, many were in the mediocre category.

It was good to see Carlos Vicente score (and some might say “About time,” given the transfer fee we paid) but probably the man likely to make the breakthrough was Ibrahim Osman, who unfortunately had a goal controversially ruled out. Typically, he’s only on loan and we are unlikely to be able to stump up the colossal £15 million it might cost to buy him.

The back four were a mixed bag and Jonathan Panzo again showed why he has never convinced clubs to take him on for more than a season. Keeper James Beadle also failed to fully convince and certainly with Ryan Allsop waiting in the wings, it wouldn’t make sense to sign him for what would be a sizable fee.

In front of them, whilst Paik Seung-ho had a quiet game one hopes that Blues find the money to sign the strong and competitive Jhon Solis permanently.

Demarai Gray never really threatened and has probably been one of our most disappointing signings and the time must now have come to give August Priske and Jay Stansfield their head for the rest of the season to get and hopefully to be the future of Blues up front

As for Chris Davies…???
