This was a match they had to win after the insipid performance in midweek against Cardiff. Gary Rowett made several changes and thankfully it galvanised the team, who played at a high tempo and with a directness sadly lacking in the previous game.

The fact that Coventry had more than twice as much possession as Blues meant little as the latter had more shots and shows perhaps that continually keeping possession by tapping the ball sideways in defence ad nauseum just gives the opposition time to regroup

Goalwise, Keshi Anderson deserved a bit of luck when his shot-cum-centre was turned into his own goal by a Sky Blues defender. Ivan Sunjic, who was a revelation, certainly deserved his goal and Jay Stansfield fully deserved his to put Blues into an unassailable three-nil lead. Tyler Roberts also showed that he can be a real attacking asset given the chance.

Yet maybe the stars of the show were the Blues tight defence, bolstered by Krystian Bielik and with a welcome return to form by Etan Laird. Those two apart, Koji Myoshi was superb as was Paik Seung-ho, both men causing innumerable problems to the Coventry midfield and defence.
