Andy Munro watches Blues draw at Hull City.
This was far from a vintage Blues performance and since Tony Mowbray has been taken out of the firing line our increasing percentage share of possession has dropped back to Eustace/Rooney levels. However, we got a point that kept us out of the relegation zone.
The Tigers’ opening ‘goal’ was scored with the aid of an arm but typical Blues’ luck that the referee was on the blind side in more ways than one. Unsurprisingly, Mark Venus made a number of changes in the early stages of the second half and this made a real difference with particularly the withdrawal of the wasteful Ivan Sunjic and the ineffective Andre Dozzell.
The also ineffective Siriki Dembele was hooked off, as was the poor Tyler Roberts On came the charismatic George Hall, who will be a real bonus, the hardworking Jay Stansfield, the stylish Alex Pritchard and our latest Korean gem, Paik Seung-ho. To have such strength coming off the bench started to turn things around but it was left to the old warhorse himself in the shape of the Juke to head home a deserved equaliser and give us hopefully a degree of optimism as we go to the Lions’ den on Saturday.
A final word for the defence who were a real credit considering the injuries/suspensions to our first line central defenders as Lee Buchanan and the much maligned Emanuel Aiwu held things together admirably.
