Albion played a high press and although trying to play out with short passes is commendable, Blues’ tactic was playing football on a knifeedge at times.

Yhe penalty that never was changed things but to be fair, we have been on the wrong end of several decisions recently so these things tend to even out over a number of games. Also let’s not forget Juninho Bacuna, who had an excellent game, and who took a superb penalty under great pressure in front of the away end.

Whilst at times we had to defend for our lives with the back four (helped out by Ivan Sunjic and Krydtian Beilik) generally excellent, we always looked dangerous on the break. Myoshi and Dembele both proved too hot to handle. Up top, unrewarded though he was, Lee Stansfield put in a tremendous shift, working his proverbial socks off.

However, given the excellent performance at the back it was fitting that Diom Sanderson put us into the lead with a soaring header.

Presumably, and perhaps surprisingly, the influential Myoshi and Dembele were merely both withdrawn as a safeguard against injury. Either way, the subs also made an impression with a lively Scott Hogan earning the freekick sublimely put away by the returning Gary Gardner.
