The possession stats were, as usual, impressive for the boys in blue but too often the continual passing back and forth in their own half gave Sutton time to get organised to repel any attacks.

Notionally in defence, Ethan Laird almost played as a wing-back, and should have had a penalty when clearly brought down. In the centre of defence Christoph Klarer was a colussus, backed up by Ben Davies, and in front of them both Tomoki Iwata and Paik Seung-ho resumed where they left off with the former’s physical presence noticeable whilst the latter generally controlled the midfield.

In fact it was up front where we struggled, with service to Jay Stansfield sporadic while Keshi Anderson and Luke Harris were unable to exert much authority/ Perhaps the exception was the goalscorer, Willum Willumsson, who deserved his goal to cap an energetic performance whilst Ayumu Yokoyama particularly impressed when he came on, posing a threat every time he got the ball. A word also for the Juke, who characteristically put himself around in the final stages of the game.
