Blues’ good start continues with a win at Leyton Orient, watched by Andy Munro.
Blues supporters need to realise that no opponent is going to roll over this season and every game is going to be like a cup’tie. So it proved against ‘lowly’ Leyton Orient and although Blues were just about worthy winners the second half was at times a hard slog.
The team are still searching for fluency and playing out from the back has only been achieved with a fair amount of nail biting. The back four isn’t as mobile when the oft-maligned Dion Sanderson is missing and if they can sign another central defender the calming influence of Krystian Bielik can once again be introduced back into midfield. One big success, however, has to be Alex Cochrane who is both solid at the back and athletic going forward.
In midfield, Paik Seung-ho has been head and shoulders above anybody else so let’s hope he stays at St. Andrews. Ayumu Yokoyama also looks an excellent addition, producing some class touches in a rumbustious game.
It was good to see Keshi Anderson score, which should do his confidence the world of good, whilst the irrepressible Alfie May was yet again on the mark. We are still some way from the finished, fluent team we all want to see but with so many new players it will take time but hopefully we will get to where we want to be before the season ends
There is still talk of the Blues being in the market for a couple of new players and one can only hope that one is a central attacker to take the weight off May’s shoulders.
