Andy Munro on what the future holds for Blues.
There’s been a lot of coverage about Blues’ financial plight and the fact that the proceeds from Jude Bellingham will probably have saved us from a points deduction. Keyboard warriors are demanding that the board should go but it’s a waste of breath as the Chinese are inate gamblers and unless somebody comes in with a highly unlikely multi-million pound bid approaching three figures then they will hang on in the hope that we can reach the Premier League promised land.
So in the meantime let’s get all our promising young players on contract, and this seems to be happening. One that’s done we can then rid ourselves of the high earners. Moving on Harlee Deane, Jeremie Bela and Kristian Pedersen should be straightforward but if we can get a fee for Maxime Colin and ivan Sunjic then I would add them to the list as they are by no means irreplaceable.
Additionally, if we can get a small fee for Odin Bailey, we ought to and then bring back Ryan Stirk and Josh Andrews, who have proved effective and rumbustious on loan. We are probably saddled with the Juke and Troy Deeney but would still make an exception on age profiles by signing the highly effective Lyle Taylor and Onel Hernandez if available. Other than that its loans and the bargain basement for us. Nethertheless, an interesting summer beckons.
