Andy Munro watches as Blues beat Luton Town.
After a slightly difficult first fifteen minutes, Blues grew into the game and finished worthy winners. That makes eight goals against the Hatters and the refrain that springs to mind is “Can we play you every week?”
It was a bit like a footballing version of Gulliver’s Travels with Blues definitely Lilliputian in a land of giants. Luckily our clutch of recent signings means that the team are now fleet of foot and can be effective on the ground. Blues first goal was set up by Lyle Taylor with Junior Bacuna putting the icing on the cake of an excellent personal performance where he displayed some dazzling footwork.
The second goal was a result of a mistake in the opposition defence but put away in ice cool style by that man Taylor… were you watching Scotty Hogan? The final goal saw Onel Hernandez show some impressive trickery to fire home following a cross by Jordan Graham.
Whilst Taylor, Bacuna and Hernandez were the stars of the show, it would be wrong to ignore a strong supporting cast of Gary Gardner, Ryan Woods and Jeremie Bela. Not to be overcritical but our defence looked shaky at times, although a clean sheet will hopefully have done their confidence a world of good.
As a footnote, we should now avoid a nervous last couple of weeks and hopefully our Championship status may be good enough credentials to turn the loans for Taylor and Hernandez into something permanent.
