Welcome the new year with a new sound.
Birmingham Jazz get their 2022 promotions underway on Friday 7th January when Loz Speyer’s Time Zone will be performing Cuban Vibe Sound & Images at 1,000 Trades in the Jewellery Quarter.
This unusual crossover music was born more than fifte years ago when trumpeter Loz Speyer was living between London and Santiago de Cuba, studying and performing there with local musicians and delving into the roots of Cuban music – which then began to reappear transformed in his own music for Time Zone.
Meanwhile his new family life swung between these two far removed worlds – the collision of which shows through in the compositions, played with passion and commitment by this fine band. Time Zone takes the audience on a journey of the heart; with images illustrating the music projected behind the band.
Loz Speyer’s Time Zone, Friday 7th January at 1,000 Trades, 16 Frederick Street, Birmingham B1 3HE.
Tickets: Advance standard £12.50 members £10 students £5 (On the door £15/£12/£5).
