More young talent comes to town.
On Friday 26th November Birmingham Jazz bring exciting new band the Antidote to 1,000 Trades.
The brainchild of bassist Matt Ridley, this outfit is a quintet bristling with young talent. They have made a debut recording that will be performed on this gig reflecting Matt’s interest in fusing the English musical traditions and strengths of rock, folk and classic into jazz improvisation. The line-up reflects that eclectic mix of styles and musicality.
Ridley draws upon a wide variety of influences; ‘thinking man’s’ rock, contemporary jazz, simple, memorable folk melodies, and the detail, sensitivity, and emotional depth of classical music. The result is remarkable for its depth, integrity, and refreshing insistence on strong melodic and thematic material.
7.45pm Friday 26th November at 1,000 Trades, 16 Frederick Street, B1 3HE. Tickets: Advance – standard £12.50, members £10, students £5 (on the door £15/£12/£5).
