Chance to vote for your favourites after celebrity-packed launch.
Nominations are now open for the 2020 Birmingham Music Awards after a spectacular launch event at The Crossing in Digbeth last week.
The 600-capacity venue was packed to the rafters with personalities from the local music scene, who were treated to a series of stunning performances from some of the front-runners for next year’s accolades. Host Cassandra Maria had a busy night, introducing a cast of amazing talent including Namiwa Jazz, Karkosa, Tarju Le’Sano, Nathan Smoker, KIOKO, Relley C, CityLightz, Mayday, K£LU and Stella, who each played live sets and generated a real party atmosphere.
The bewildering array of styles and genres on show augurs well for what promises to be a glittering ceremony next May, and suggests there will be stiff competition amongst artists hoping to carry off the top prizes in the super-diverse list of categories. A monthly series of music industry networking events will see the excitement build as the big night approaches. The Birmingham Music Awards’ brand new website was also launched – click here to nominate your favourite local artist.
