Iconic Beano and Dandy albums hitting the shelves thanks to Birmingham company.
Dennis and Gnasher are ready to hit the road along with their pals Minnie the Minx and Roger the Dodger – and Desperate Dan, Korky the Cat and Keyhole Kate are going along for the ride, too.
But don’t fret, the iconic stars of the Beano and Dandy comics are not jumping ship – they’re actually about to make the trip to stores all over the country courtesy of a Birmingham-based logistics firm.
Half a million Beano and Dandy annuals, published by Dundee-based company DC Thomson Media, are currently being stacked at PGS Global Logistics’ Kitts Green warehouse, ready to be delivered up and down the UK in time for the bumper Christmas market.
PGS, which is a member of the nationwide Pallet-Track network, will soon start shipping the best-selling annuals to major chains such as WH Smith and The Works in preparation for the festive period.
Paul Eyles, managing director of PGS Global Logistics, said: “If you’re of a certain age, a mention of the Beano or Dandy will trigger all sorts of happy memories and the fact we are helping to move 500,000 annuals all over the country is proof of their lasting appeal.
“As nice as it is to see all the annuals, we leave the funny stuff to the comic characters while we concentrate on making sure the annuals are on shelves ready for the Christmas rush.
“We’re sure they will be bringing plenty of smiles to people’s faces over the festive season, whether they are kids or just big kids!”
