Charity helps youngsters in search for employment.
Novotel Birmingham Central hosted the graduation of employment charity Springboard’s Hospitality Futures programme on Friday 18th November 2016.
Eleven young graduates successfully completed Hospitality Futures, an IntoWork programme run by The Springboard Charity. The programme, now in its fifth year, is aimed at young people who have faced challenges and struggled to find employment.
Over the course of five weeks the programme is designed to build self-belief, motivation and confidence through varied and interactive activities. The programme introduces young people to the world of work through work tasters, skills challenges, team building and specific job skills.
Graduate Alipa Dongo said: “The Hospitality Futures programme has improved my confidence and given me hope for the future. It has taught a lot about the hospitality industry and I would now like to secure a job in the industry.”
The programme culminated in a graduation at Novotel Birmingham Central and four graduates have been offered employment already.
Anne Pierce, Springboard’s CEO, said: “Hospitality Futures has again been a huge success and working with Solidarity Accor on this programme continues to encourage individuals to pursue vibrant careers in hospitality.”
Work experience has been offered by Novotel, Ibis, Holiday Inn Express Snow Hill and Crowne Plaza City Centre. Taster sessions have been hosted by Yo! Sushi, Resorts World and Ed’s Easy Diner. Training venues have been provided by Holiday Inn Express Snow Hill, Novotel City Centre and Ibis.
