Museum set for food fair.
A tasty line-up of over eighty local producers has been announced for this year’s Cosford Food Festival, which promises to serve up the very best food and drink the Midland’s has to offer. Popular favorites on the food festival scene as well as brand new local producers are all on board for this year’s festival, which takes place on 23-24 July.
Held in the spacious grounds at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, a bustling food market will showcase some of the region’s finest artisan produce and locally brewed beverages. On top of 40 popular favourites, over 30 new producers will be joining the Cosford Food Festival for the first time, making this year’s event the biggest and the best yet.
Returning to the festival this summer will be popular exhibitors, including; the fabulous Moyden’s Handmade Cheese, bringing along a selection of their award winning range of artisan cheeses. Astons of Coven are also back for 2016, offering quality locally sourced meat including their award winning sausages. Plus, the delightful Salop Pickle Works who will have a wide range of artisan pickles, with plenty of exciting flavours to choose from including hot chilies. Plus, if it’s a thirst quenching beverage you’re after, Hurst View will be at the festival with their award winning cider and perry, produced in Staffordshire.
Bringing something new to the festival this year is Beans and Leaves based in Wolverhampton, showcasing a wide range of freshly ground coffee and speciality teas – with so many to choose from, you’ll be sure to find the perfect brew! Also joining the festival for the first time is Forest Pig Charcuterie, producers of the finest award winning charcuterie from their own woodland reared rare breed pigs.
Tempting visitors with a wide range of fantastic fudge flavours including Irn Bru, Jagermeister and Jammie Dodger is The Fudge Factory, who are sure to be a big hit with festival goers. Organisers are also thrilled to have one of Shropshire’s leading craft brewers sign up – Hobson’s Brewery based in Cleobury Mortimer, will be bringing their new Hat Collection – a range of 330ml cans which are inspired by the symbolic coke hat from the Hobsons logo.
If browsing all the stalls makes you hungry, fear not, organisers have lined up some delicious hot food vendors who will be serving up flavours from around the world. The diverse menu on offer will include everything from Indian, Italian and French cuisine to a taste of the Caribbean with Cuban and Mexican food to tempt visitors. Gourmet burgers, flame grilled chicken and ribs will be on offer, perfect for a summer BBQ style alfresco dining. For those with a sweet tooth, traditional dairy ice creams, waffles, crêpes, milkshakes and smoothies will all be on offer.
Now in its fourth year, the festival is firmly established on the museums events calendar, attracting thousands of foodies each day. With additional entertainment and live music being lined up for festival goers, organisers are confident the event will not only appeal to food lovers but also families who are looking for an enjoyable day out.
