Trust’s new guide promises families a Wild Summer

Family ideas for the school holidays and beyond.

For anyone looking for great ideas for a wild summer, The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country has published the perfect guide.

Thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery there is now a booklet with some fabulous ideas of what to do and where to go in Birmingham and the Black Country to engage with nature this summer.

The booklet is being given away free at events this summer, but can also be downloaded from their website www.bbcwildlife.org.uk/mywildsummer.

Joe Peacock of The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country said: “Nature has so much to offer when you’re looking for things to do and we want families all over Birmingham and the Black Country to spend more time getting wild this summer.

“In June we had lots of people taking the 30 days wild challenge and doing something to engage with nature every day for the whole month, so now we want to make it as easy as possible for people to carry that on through the summer.

“Thanks to the generous support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery, not only do we have this booklet, but also free Wild Summer Fun events are taking place for the next six weeks at EcoPark in Small Heath. That will help families on a budget looking for things to do, but also make children healthier and happier by encouraging them to spend more time outside being active and learning about the natural world.”

More details of the Wild Summer Fun days are available on The Trust’s website www.bbcwildlife.org.uk/whats-on with plenty of other events at locations all over Birmingham and the Black Country also listed. For all events children must be accompanied by an adult.
