Festival of Imagineers to inspire audiences this summer.
Imagineer Productions is working in partnership with Culture Coventry to create the second annual Festival of Imagineers linking art, design and engineering and taking place in locations across Coventry City Centre from 3rd-8th August. The Festival of Imagineers is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Building on the success of 2014, the Festival of Imagineers will present a dynamic performance programme alongside interactive exhibitions, workshops and activities by imagineers from all walks of life creating a series of amazing experiences for people to watch, try for themselves, join in and take away.
The festival will include three main elements: the new Godiva cavalcade, a new cycle based procession created with young people from across the City and featuring Imagineer produced performances; a rolling programme throughout the weekend of performances and workshops from local, national and international artists; and a series of interactive exhibits and activities from local businesses and organisations, individual makers, inventors and artists.
Jane Hytch Chief Executive Imagineer Productions said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Festival of Imagineers back to Coventry it is a real opportunity for us to work with imagineers locally, regionally and beyond to showcase and reflect the Imagineering inherent in our City’s diverse industries. We want to continue to connect artists, engineers and innovators and through these collaborations continue inspiring people, young and old, to share and develop their creativity.”
Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England, added: “Imagineer has some very exciting plans lined up for this year’s festival to bring people in Coventry together to be inspired by art, design and engineering.
