A variety of events are coming up.
One of the UK’s most glamorous and exciting jazz violinists will be swinging her way over to Artrix next month.
Salene was classically trained at Birmingham Conservatoire and has played with classical ensembles such as CBSO, The English Symphony Orchestra and Mid-Wales Opera.
Since leaving music college she has become an established figure on the jazz scene with appearances at The Exeter Summer Music Festival and the Birmingham International Jazz Festival. Grappelli Swing, which she is performing with the Grappelli Swing Quartet at Artrix on Sunday 5th October, is a wonderful tribute to the great jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli.
Showcasing music from Grappelli’s long and illustrious career, Salene and the Quartet will give a lively rendition of some of his greatest hits. This is a must-see for jazz fans.

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are the UK’s only professional touring taiko group, and Europe’s most established performing company in this fast-expanding field. Through performing over 100 concerts a year, the group have built a solid reputation for their hard-hitting and energetic performances since their establishment in 1994.
The group has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes worldwide, including the Brit Awards, BBC Last Night of the Proms, the Generation Game and has even featured in a Bollywood film.
Through their 15 years of rigorous touring, they have developed a style that is uniquely their own. Retaining the traditional spirit of taiko, yet creating a thoroughly contemporary sound, Mugenkyo are forging a new path with their innovative approach.

Some of the famous author’s most memorable characters are vividly brought to life in this anarchic and joyful telling of this glorious tale.
