Aim to increase interest in the game amongst young people.
Birmingham Metropolitan College’s Centre of Sporting Excellence is holding a Junior Open Golf Tournament for all junior golfers on Tuesday 29th July at Hagley Golf & Country Club – driving interest forward in the game for the borough’s young people.
The Open Competition starts at 10.00 am and includes an 18 hole stroke play medal, closest to the pin and longest drive awards.
David Faulkner, Golf Academy Co-ordinator at Birmingham Metropolitan College, said: “Our new Golf Academy is going from strength to strength as part of our Centre of Sporting Excellence, allowing school leavers to continue playing the sport they love whilst studying for an academic qualification. This tournament has been designed to allow young people to show off their skills in a series of competitions and it will be a great day out for anyone 18 and under who loves playing golf.”
Hagley Club Golf Professional, Gareth Snelgrove, commented: “This will be a great chance for local golfers to play our course. Even if you’re not at college or looking to take up a place on the Golf Academy you are more than welcome to come and enjoy our facilities.”
