The Birmingham theatre has announced its new season.
Festive favourites Scrooge The Musical and Miracle on 34th Street, The Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s The Night and much loved classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are among the Autumn/Winter line-up at at Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre.
The new brochure released this week also reveals the return of Strictly Come Dancing favourites Flavia Cacace and Vincent Samone, and due to high demand – another week announced for the iconic West Side Story.
A host of brand new one-nighters have also been announced including comedian Russell Kane on March 12th 2014, The Waterboys on December 12th, and tribute acts The Magic of Motown on February 21st 2014 and the Mr Blue Sky Tour featuring the fabulous ELO Experience on August 2nd.
Scrooge the Musical, which comes to the venue from October 28th-November 2nd is a heart-warming family story with stunning sets and costumes and specially created illusions by well-respected Paul Kieve. Legendary actor Tommy Steele, whose career includes over twenty hit singles and has starred countless award winning musicals, takes the lead role as Ebeneezer alongside other much loved characters such as Bob Crachit and Tiny Tim.
Meanwhile Miracle on 34th Street the Musical brings one of the most popular Christmas films of all time to the stage. Kris Kringle takes the audience through an all-singing all dancing adaptation of the Christmas favourite. The heart-rending tale which runs at the venue from December 5th-December 7th is fun for all the family and is sure to get you in the mood for the festive season.
Tonight’s The Night – The Rod Stewart musical is a smash-hit West End musical comedy inspired by the songs of the legendary recording artists and one of the best singers of all time. Set on the mean-streets of Detroit and in the glamorous clubs of uptown LA Tonight’s The Night features all the massive hits including Maggie May, Jane, Hot Legs and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?. It plays from 24th February-1st March 2014.
And following the success of hot ticket Midnight Tango, Dance till Dawn featuring Flavia and Vincent is a sensational dance show straight from the Golden Age of Hollywood. A classic love story set in the 1940s it brings vintage Hollywood glamour to the present. It runs at the venue from April 21st-26th 2014.
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, which runs from February 3rd-8th 2014 is a brand new restaged version of the classic American Frontier Dance Musical. Set in Oregon in 1850 it is the story of Adam the eldest of seven brothers, who goes to town to get a wife. The breath-taking production is guaranteed to put a spring in your step and a tune on your lips and is not to be missed.
And due to unprecedented demand, a whole new week has been added for West Side Story, based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and packed with unforgettable songs including Maria, Tonight, and I Feel Pretty. The show runs from April 1st-19th 2014.
