Next Friday (1 March), a new comedy night, Sit Down, Stand Up, launches at The Public in West Bromwich.
The quarterly comedy night, held in association with the Avalon Comedy Network, will feature some of the best known names in live comedy in the UK.
Headlining the launch night will be Perrier nominated stand-up, Alun Cochrane. A familiar face on TV appearing on the likes of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Dave’s One Night Stand and Have I Got News For You, the co-host of the Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio is a master of observational comedy.
The evening will also see performances from BBC New Comedy Award winner Lucy Beaumont, highly acclaimed regular MC, Hayley Ellis, The Public’s #HashTagFunny winner, Jack Kirwan, and winner of the West Bromwich venue’s 2011 Starter for Ten competition, Lee Gee.
Having established themselves as one of the leading comedy venues in the Black Country, throughout 2013 some of the biggest stars of tomorrow will appear at the regular comedy night including WitTank and Paul McCaffrey.
With previous headliners of the much loved Comedy Network including the likes of Al Murray, Frank Skinner, Lee Nelson and Russell Howard, visitors to The Public will be provided with a unique opportunity to catch the future stars of the comedy scene in an intimate setting.
Over the next few months The Public will welcome some of the finest established and upcoming comics on the circuit. The star studded new programme will feature award winning comedians Robin Ince (18 May), Jenny Éclair (15 June) and Lucy Porter (17 April).
Sit Down, Stand Up takes place at The Public on Friday 1 March at 8pm. Tickets are £10 advance, £12 on the door and are available from www.thepublic.com or by calling 0121 533 7161.
