This half term, Monday 18 February to 22 February, an exciting programme of exhibitions, events and workshops are set to keep all ages entertained at The Public in West Bromwich.
Taking inspiration from The Public’s Light and Dark Fantastic exhibition – a collection of beautiful futuristic flower sculptures – visitors will be able to get creative in Family Craft Day. On Monday 18 February, the whole family will be able to come together to create their own sculptures using a variety of brightly coloured materials.
The ever popular Den Building Day will return the Black Country venue on 20 February. Over 4s will be able to build their own fortresses using a range of exciting recycled materials in a high energy, imaginative day of entertainment.
Over 11s looking to try their hand at stop frame animation will be able to create their own short films on Thursday 21 February using web cams and animation software. All films produced in the workshop will be uploaded to The Public’s website for everyone to see.
On Thursday 21 February, Freehand Theatre, one of the country’s leading puppet theatre companies, will be bringing new production, Little Red…You Know Who to the arts centre. Based on the traditional favourite story of Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red….You Know Who will be brought to life by the Yorkshire based theatre company in a new and original way which will promises to excite and delight its young audience.
Over half-term visitors to The Public will also be amongst the first to experience Black Country Legends, a collection of exhibitions celebrating the region’s charm, quirkiness and characters. Highlights will include a Black Country themed computer game based on the popular PlayStation game, Little Big Planet, and a huge map revealing the things that are odd, curious and unique about the region.
