After various washed-out and cancelled festivals, this year’s Association of Festival Organisers Conference plans to tackle the big issues of the Festival industry in three debates.
- Has the Bubble Burst? Are there now too many festivals? This hot topic that is all over the national press gets an open discussion to find out where the sector is right now in terms of numbers, competition and what the future holds.
- Artist Demands or Festival Hospitality? Following some informal AFO research in the last year a panel of agents and organisers discusses how to strike a balance. What do you accept on a rider and how do you provide great hospitality on a sensible budget?
- And perhaps most contentious of all…… Make Me an Offer takes a look at spiralling artist fees in the current recession. How can festivals, agents, managers and artists work together to sustain each other’s business. As tour venues drop and audience numbers fall the two parties must work together.
Taking place in Eastwood Hall, Nottinghamshire on 16-18 November, this annual gathering of industry professionals, now in its 25th year, is one of the biggest gatherings of events professionals in the country and is dedicated to the festival industry. The agenda will offer presentations, debates, panels and one-to-ones on all manner of industry topics from Wet Weather Insurance to Media Buying, Health & Safety Passports to Social Media Marketing.
As well as debate, discussion and presentations The AFO Conference has music. Three great Showcases including a very special partnership with The Atlantic Canadian Music Industry Assocations.
The Conference is sponsored by EFDSS, fRoots, Proper Music Distribution, LaPlaya Insurance Services, AVLS Production and Ticket South, all of whom not only make financial contributions but bring their respective professional experience to the Conference Delegates.
