Hit West End show Calendar Girls is making its debut at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre from Mon 15 to Sat 20 Oct featuring an all star line up including Lesley Joseph, Kacey Ainsworth, Camilla Dallerup, Helen Fraser, Sue Holderness, Deena Payne, Kathryn Rooney, Ruth Madoc and Kevin Sacre.
Calendar Girls is based on the true story of a group of ordinary women who spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference. As interest snowballs, the Calendar Girls find themselves revealing more than they’d ever planned.
For the first time ever this feel good play will visit Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, bringing with it a stellar line up of acclaimed actors, including Lesley Joseph, who shot to fame as Dorien Green in the BBC comedy Birds of Feather and Kacey Ainsworth, who played Little Mo in EastEnders.
The cast also includes Sue Holderness who is best known as Marlene Boyce in the BBC’s hugely popular Only Fools and Horses and Deena Payne, who played Viv Hope in Emmerdale for eighteen years. Strictly Come Dancing professional Camilla Dallerup makes her acting debut as the beautician Elaine, alongside her husband Kevin Sacre, who played Jake Dean in Hollyoaks.
Helen Fraser, who is most known for her role as Sylvia ‘Bodybag’ Hollamby in BBC prison drama Bad Girls, also joins the cast, alongside Hi-De-Hi actress Ruth Madoc, Kathryn Rooney, Susan Bovell, Robert Gill and Bruce McGregor.
The Calendar Girls stage show is based on the 2003 film starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters. Since opening at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September 2008, the show has been an unprecedented success, playing over 100 sell out weeks at theatres across the country as well as a triumphant run in London’s West End. Calendar Girls has become the most successful play to ever tour the UK and has grossed more at the box office than the smash hit film, with ticket sales in excess of £25 million.
Tickets for Calendar Girls are available now from the Belgrade’s Box Office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £16.75 to £30.75 or via www.belgrade.co.uk where cheaper tickets are available.
