A mixed bag, that’s for sure.
Wednesday sees the arrival of one of our favourite live bands, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes. The description of the Jukes as “Springsteen during the encores” has never been bettered – they’re a blend of rock, blues, soul and funk with a horn section straight from Memphis and never do a bad show. Tickets £17.50
On Thursday local hero Hazel O’Connor will be launching her new album I Give You My Sunshine with a show at the Assembly. Tickets £17.50
Friday has a reunion of one of the seventies’ biggest record sellers – rock’n’rollers Showadywaddy. There’s probably not a more unfashionable band in the country. Tickets £17
Saturday sees comedian Kevin Bridges, star of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Live at the Apollo. Tickets £10
On Sunday there’s the Hawklords, a spin-off from masters of space rock Hawkwind and featuring amongst others veterans of both bands Nik Turner and Harvey Bainbridge. Tickets £15.
