A day full of cultural activities and family friendly workshops celebrating Diwali will be taking place at The Public on Wednesday 26 October from 11.30am – 4.30pm.
Throughout the day visitors to the West Bromwich venue will be able to take part in a number of free hands-on activities including a Rangoli workshop with the opportunity to help create a giant traditional Indian collaborative piece of art, Rangoli colouring activities, Henna tattoo decorating, nail art and Indian Head Massages.
At 11.30am a £3 drop-in workshop, Diwali Light Pictures takes place, inviting the whole family use to photography and digital editing to make beautiful images themed around the Festival of Light.
Sandwell school children from Priya’s Dance Academy will be teaching wannabe Bollywood and Bhangra dancers a host of exciting dance moves from 2pm – 3.30pm, and will then join up with the fortnightly Tea Dance sessions to share moves and grooves in a cultural cross over.
From 3.30pm – 4.30pm visitors to the Black Country arts centre will be encouraged to get creative by designing and decorating special lanterns using simple craft materials and torches. Each lantern will then be taken on an eye catching light procession throughout the building in preparation for the West Bromwich illuminations switch-on led by the Mayor of Sandwell.
The Diwali Celebration Day will take place on Wednesday 26 October from 11.30am – 4.30pm. Admission is free. Diwali Light Pictures is £3.
