WWE teamed up with the UK’s leading muscle disease charity the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in February 2011 to launch a search for the UK’s first WWE Community Champion, with the aim of encouraging young people across the UK to support their local communities.

Bradley has a severe and progressive muscle-wasting condition, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and was nominated by his mum, Sarah, to become the Midland’s WWE Community Champion.

Bradley was the face of a national awareness campaign undertaken by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in 2010, raising vital awareness of the condition.

Bradley’s mum describes this experience as the time he “became a famous little boy with all his friends at school” and says the other reason she allowed Bradley’s picture to be used is “because l feel as a mum this may help Bradley not to become scared of using a wheelchair to help him feel it’s okay to be different.“

Bradley’s family and friends have now established a fundraising committee and have plans to raise lots of money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

In recognition of his outstanding achievement, Bradley won tickets to attend the WrestleMania® Revenge Tour in Birmingham last Saturday 16 April as well as a WWE replica championship title, WWE t-shirt, certificate of recognition and his story has been told on wwe.com.

After this weekend’s WWE event, Bradley’s mum Sarah said: “We are so overwhelmed never thought he would win – it is amazing.  Bradley is so over the moon he can not stop smiling. We just want to thank the judges for making Bradley’s day and giving him the chance to see the WWE Wrestling.“

The judging criteria to win a Community Champion award included being under 30 years of age and volunteering for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign or showing support for people with muscle wasting conditions.
