Music event tunes into training and employment

Showcase for skills, talent and learning.

An evening of live music and entertainment will tune local youth into employment, training and education opportunities.

Organised by Witton Lodge Community Association, Track Friday 3 takes place at Perry Common Community Hall on Friday January 24th.

The event has been co-ordinated to provide young people with a platform to showcase their skills and talent while providing them with access to services and support which can boost their job prospects.

Dellano Lewis, the Association’s Employment Engagement Officer, has organised the show. “For various reasons, young people in this area find it difficult to get into employment,” he said. “This event, while giving them a chance to do what they enjoy in front of a live audience, will be a chance for them to learn about the services Witton Lodge Community Association offers, solutions which can help them develop the skills and knowledge they need to find work.”

Track Friday 1 (August 2016) and Track Friday 2 (January 2019) were both hugely successful events and organisers are confident this month’s showcase will prove just as popular.

“More than 100 people attended the first two shows and said how they found each one a great way to engage with each other and discuss ways of looking for and finding work,” added Dellano. “Employment and training workshops run by Witton Lodge can help with everything from creating CVs to filling out online job applications and honing interview techniques. They are also delivered to help people gain in confidence and encourage a pro-active approach to the job search process.”

The list of performers scheduled to appear at Track Friday 3 includes Shenai, Faye, Ameenah, Madia Saskia, Marlena, Shakes Harris, Beeniice, Smaverick, Infamousdimez, Lauren, Jamie Lee and Mr Macee. Music comes from DJ Gaz H and the show will be hosted by Kaycee Light.

Doors open at 5.30pm with acts appearing on stage from 6-9pm and tckets can be obtained from Eventbrite. There will also be a free buffet.
