Coming up at the legendary Bilston venue.
There’s a selection of folk and country shows coming up at the Robin 2 that are a lot more alike than might first appear.
On Wednesday 22nd March veteran British folk/prog band the Strawbs will be returning to the venue. They helped start the careers of Sandy Denny and Rick Wakeman while Tony Visconti has described their album Dragonfly as one of his finest productions. They also have a recording career stretching back almost half a century and still play to appreciative audiences around the world.
Monday 27th March sees the arrival of Irish country star Lisa Stanley and her band. Not only has she made a string of highly-acclaimed albums and tours regularly in the UK and Ireland but Lisa is also a TV celebrity, with her own country music show in both countries.
On Wednesday 29th another Irish singer, folk star Brian Kennedy, returns to the Robin. From a childhood on the Falls Rd to platinum-selling albums, long-term collaboration with Van Morrison and work with such artists as Bob Dylan and John Lee Hooker is testament to the special talent that will be on display.
Saturday April 1st heralds the return of Robin regulars New Model Army, whose blend of folk-inspired agit-rock has been firing up audiences for over thirty years and has led to worldwide acclaim, festival headline sets and a string of hit albums.
