Dear Andy…….

Dear Bluenose,

As ye know, I’d originally said that I’d left the Blues because it was impossible to work with wee Carsson and his crew but I can now disclose that it was a ruse tae enable me tae claim constructive dismissal. In reality I was quite happy tae work for them when I was earning over £1.5 million in the Premier League and this is hard tae deny when some of the backroom buoys want tae stay on.

The real reason is, of course, why in heaven’s name would I want tae take a big paycut to try and make a fist of the Championship with the threat of the sack if we dinna go straight back up. Managing the Villa on a greatly enhanced salary wit technically better players and more money available for transfers will undoubtedly further my career…it’s a nae brainer.

As regards loyalty tae Blues fans, ye never really took tae me apart from that brief Carling Cup honeymoon and ye were always annoying me with that stupid 4-4-2 chant. I dinna owe youse a thing and, anyway, as ye all ken ,these days it’s all aboot looking after numero uno.

Incidentally, before I received an anonymous transalantic phone call in Corsica offering me untold riches, I swore that I would hang onto the nucleus of the side whatever happened…. obviously things have changed and like Scotsmen through the ages, I hope tae plunder whatever I can.

Yours In (Premier League) Football
ALEX,
Aston
