Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital benefits from entrepreneur’s efforts.
A Birmingham-based entrepreneur has raised a staggering £43,000 for Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital by participating in and winning a white-collar charity boxing match.
Abid Khan is the CEO of Riverdale Insurance and Vice Chairman of Birmingham Youth Sports Academy, a voluntary organisation that encourages local children and teenagers to build confidence and team spirit by participating in sports.
Dedicated to supporting the local community, Abid participated in the white-collar boxing match on Saturday 6th April 2019, and in addition to being successful in his division, he was the highest fundraiser of the night, raising a massive £43,000 to Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital.
Abid (pictured) explained: “The white-collar charity boxing match was an incredible event and something I was delighted to part of. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity of those who donated towards my participation in the event and I would like to say a massive thank you to all that supported and turned out, donated and purchased tables, together with a special mention to my world-class coach and trainer Harvey Ainsworth from The PIT Gym JQ who helped me succeed.”
Established in 2014 Hitman Promotions runs the white-collar charity boxing match as an annual event, which provides the opportunity for either men and women to train like a professional athlete alongside with world class coaches, whilst raising money for a worthy cause.
“This was the first time that I have been able to participate in the ring after a number of years”, continues Abid. “The White-Collar Event is a perfect setting, and each year every competitor raises a staggering amount of money for the hospital. Not only does the event provide the opportunity for individuals to get fit with professional coaches but the main goal is to raise awareness for a fantastic cause”.
